Locating our window…
Broadly NE–ENE toward the depot; first receiver in a northeast breeze.
NW relief opening that can support a cross-flat airflow path.
SE exposure that becomes useful in southerly and southeasterly flow.
Real obstruction: the deeper study cabinet blocks part of the study window, reducing effective opening area even when the facade is well aligned.
Distance is useful provenance—not a claim that a ground instrument measures the flat.
Geometry: horizontal positions and footprints are drawn in one coordinate system at 1:1 proportions within 1 km. Published height or storey data is used where available; the remaining low-rise heights are explicitly estimated. PSI, PM2.5 and forecasts are regional products. Animated airflow is illustrative—not indoor sensing or engineering CFD.
Bearings create an opportunity; open doors and a real outlet still decide the indoor path.
Best alignment with the bedroom/study bank.
Southerly–southeasterly flow favours the SE and yard side.
Light variable winds make cross-openings and fans more important.
No purchase is indicated by the depot orientation alone.
Normal open-window day: natural ventilation remains the default.
Haze or unhealthy PSI: close the occupied room, then run correctly sized HEPA.
Closed air-conditioned bedroom: use HEPA if allergies or measured particles justify it.
Cooking or renovation dust: capture and ventilate at source first.
